But first, a loyal couple got in touch after hearing reports on the radio that black women

were five times more likely to die in childbirth than white women.

On women's hour, the subject of death in childbirth for black women was discussed.

We've spoken to new mothers and a new midwife and there are only a few

of the dozens of responses we've had to our requests for you to get in touch.

So I was induced and I was kind of left on a ward and it wasn't just me.

There was another woman who would basically bring by ourselves through the night.

No one ever came into checking and it got to the point where I was in so much pain.

I couldn't kind of call for help.

The stories of guests and listeners were emotionally moving and concerning and we were

less wondering what the studies and statistics indicated as the causes.
