Last month, one of Mix Most beloved creative endeavors celebrated 15th anniversary, and

we wanted to do something special to commemorate it.

When I attended the International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival in Tempe, Arizona in 2005,

I caught my first episode of Masters of Horror, Dance of the Dead, directed by the late

great Toby Hooper, who I had the chance to meet after the screening.

What I didn't know at the time was the show's creator, Mick Garrus, was showcasing Masters

of Horror at film festivals and genre conventions around the world, building the hype for this

once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between horror legends and rightfully so.

Masters of Horror lived up to its name, not just in premise, but in execution.

The Showtime series allowed Mick to curate stories from some of his favorite filmmakers

working in the genre, giving them the opportunity to tell their stories the way they wanted

to tell them, free from notes and creative interference.

Because of that, many of these legends delivered some of their best work in recent memory,

and we, the viewers, reaped the rewards.

And the legacy of Masters of Horror continues to this day.

In 2005, Mick brought the dark genre of horror, the television, uncut, and unfettered, paving

the way for it to grow, flourish, and mature.
