Australian police said the attackers behind a mass shooting at the Jewish Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney were a father and son.

The gunman killed at least 15 people and wounded dozens more.

Anthony Albanese, Australia's prime minister, called it a dark moment for our nation,

vowing that every resource would be used to keep Jews safe.

Hong Kong's most famous media mogul and prisoner, Jimmy Lai,

was found guilty of conspiracy to foreign collusion and sedition

at the end of a national security trial that lasted more than two years.

He was accused of lobbying foreign support

for the city's pro-democracy movement, including by calling for sanctions during widespread

protest in 2019. A mitigation hearing will be held on January 12th.
