Good morning. It's Sunday, May 7th. I'm Michael Steele, filling in for my friend Ali Valshi.

Eight people were killed and seven others were injured by a gunman who opened fire into a crowd of people at a Dallas area shopping outlet yesterday afternoon.

Three of the seven who were injured remained in critical condition this morning.

The shooting took place at Allen Premium Outlets, a shopping center that is more than 120 stores

located in it, and is located about 30 miles north of Dallas.

Sounds of bullets sent hundreds of people running for cover and witnesses at the scene

describe the panic that ensued throughout the area.

I see a lot of people running and we are wondering like what's happening.

So as we are approaching, we hit more rounds, heavily rounds.

So I'm looking for my daughter.

So I go around very fast and as I'm

coming approaching the burger, you know, the Starbucks because my daughter said, you know, shooting,

I'm already here. I'm looking for you. So the cops were already, you know, they were fighting

each other. There was people on the floor. A lot of people they were like, you know, hiding.

And as I was going around, they told me to get away, you know, to move out.

And I kept telling them, I'm looking for my daughter.

The government was killed at the scene by a police officer who happened to be at the outlet responding to a different matter.

But neither his identity nor those of the victims have been released as of yet.

According to a database maintained by the Associated Press in USA Today, this is the 22nd mass killing this year,

and the second deadly is after the Monterey Park massacre, where 11 people were killed during

a lunar year celebrations in January.
