Some of us move so quickly through life as I have a tendency to do, from one appointment to the next, from one city to the next, from one responsibility to the next, from one meeting to the next,

from one day to the next, that we don't stop to ponder, where is the hand of God

active in my life?

Nancy is continuing in a series called Mary of Nazareth.

One of the greatest hymns ever written in the history of the Christian church is found in the passage that we're looking at today.

We're in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1.

We're looking at characteristics out of the life of Mary of Nazareth.

And these are the same characteristics that God is looking for in our lives.

They're the qualities of the woman that God uses to fulfill his purposes in our world.

In our last session, we looked at the account beginning in verse 39 of Luke chapter 1,

of Mary going to visit her cousin Elizabeth who has

also just found out that she who was considered barren is going to have a child of that child

of course being John the Baptist and when Mary reached Elizabeth's house Elizabeth said to her

blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her

will be accomplished. And we saw in our last session that the woman who believes God is a blessed

woman. That's a woman that God can use. And then Mary responds beginning in verse 46 with this great

hymn of praise. We know it as the Magnificat. Mary said,

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior. For he has been

mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on, all generations will call me blessed. For the
