Can we just acknowledge that turtles are truly bizarre animals?

They are reptiles who carry around built-in armored shells and live in the water.

They're marvelously weird if you stop and think about it.

The most normal species of turtle is an exceptionally strange member of the animal kingdom. So when I say that we're

going to talk about a bizarre turtle today, know that I mean that this turtle is bizarre for a turtle,

and downright alien compared to other animals. Today's creature screams punk rock. They've got two

long spikes sticking out under their chin. Sometimes you can

see smaller spikes behind those, and these chin spikes look like some strange jewelry you might

find at Hot Topic, some weird body mod style jewelry. They sport a pinkish cream underbelly, and they've

got wild colored irises, sometimes blue, I swear. They look like they picked up some

colored contacts while they were out shopping for jewelry. And best of all, most famously, they have

been seen wearing green mohawks. They look like the cover of an album. And this isn't a case

of weirdness being only skin deepdeep either. This animal's looks

are only the beginning. Their adaptations are fascinating. Their evolution is unbelievable.

Their history is extremely interesting. And I'll just say it right now. Their breathing method

is hilarious. They are the Mary River Turtle. Alluser McCrurus. I'm Mackin. This is Species.
