And today we are discussing the doll in the garden by Mary Downing Han, an extremely touching

God, weepy book. I was boo-hoo crying yeah me too at the end yeah I also I did have the the somewhat nice realization that I have blessedly let go of my guilt about how things were with

my dad when he died because that was the more acute torture of

thinking about his death was was feeling like I let him down and he didn't know that I loved him.

And as I have talked about on the podcast before,

and this book is that's exactly Ashley's fear, yeah confesses to her mom at the end and it's like it's so

heartbreaking. There were a couple moments where I cried a lot. I also cried

when they realized that there was nothing they could do to save

Louisa which like that I knew I knew because I'm 42 and they're only 7 and 11. Yeah I knew because I'm not a

fucking baby I'm not a fucking dumb baby you fucking idiot baby you fucking idiot

babies what you thought thought that a dog could cure consumption?

No.

But it still was really sad, like just that child the bargaining yeah and the child like

heartbreak of like but we did it all I don't understand learning for the first time that life isn't

fair yeah that was really really sad really sad this book is short and sweet.

It's and beautiful.

Beautiful.

She's such like about like forgiveness and grief and and

um healing.
