This week, we're chatting to Mary Adkins, who is an author and writing coach.

She is the founder of the book Incubator.

It's a year-long program to help you write, revise, and then pitch your novel.

She's also written many books.

The newest is the critically acclaimed Palm Beach. Now,

we talk about why she sets up her writing space to make her believe she's playing. Also,

how she uses music to take her to a different place and space and time. And you can hear

why she thought she had the skills to help others write. I mean, I think it was right after my first novel had come out that it occurred to me that

I could pair these things, pair what I had, what I had figured out for myself with what I had

learned about education, to work with writers to help them, help them get their books done.

So that was it. I mean, that was basically it.

I had the kind of the spark one day of an idea. And I thought, let me, I'm going to try this.
