This is Entertainment writer Jim Hill in my co-host, the amazing Aaron Adams and I are recording this week's episode on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022, which means that Aaron, you did catch the first episode of Ms. Marvel today, right?

Yeah, I was really surprised when Darth Vader came storming out of nowhere.

No, wait a minute. I'm sorry if that was Obi-Wan. Yes, no, I did get to see Ms. Marvel as well.

Never mind. Actually, that's the next thing I have to do. As we finish recording here, this is four, right, episode four.

Yeah, but the thing is I thought that Marvel, well, at least Disney would have been a little bit more choosy about where things got placed on their calendar, because having a beloved coveted Star Wars show and also a brand new Marvel show,

land on the same day, I thought was almost a mistake. Why not put one on Wednesdays and one on Fridays and spread your viewership across the calendar just to touch, but we can get into that later.

I just thought it curious to have them both in the same day. All right, that works. But before we get started talking about Ms. Marvel, which we'll do in the second half of today's show,

a few shows back. You mentioned you were headed out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to do some pretty interesting recordings.

Can you talk a little bit about that? Yeah, well, see, we were going to do it on the last show, but I didn't have any sound ready.

So I went and dug up some of my audio that I got to record. And we're going to play three bits of sound from the track for you this evening.

The first sound that we have is from practice day. And this is just neat because I got to hold the microphone within like four feet of an indie car as it came racing up to its pit stop, come to a screeching halt.

And then they turned off the engine again, because it was practice day. So they weren't running the whole day.

So no crowd noise, just, you know, straight here from the tracks. We'll take a quick, quick listen to that.

And I thought that was just so neat to be that close to an indie car come screaming right up to you. Thank goodness for that little two foot wall to keep you safe.

Yeah, so the next one we'll listen to real quick is this will be our reference point. And these are indie cars going around the track during the race at top speed over 200 miles an hour at the Indianapolis 500.

And now that you've heard that. Yeah, I know that you feel the speed like that. I got a breeze going across my face just from the sound of those cars who've been by and now so you can hear what I what I was really there to capture the whole time.

This is going to be in 5.1. Well, here in the show, it's it's only in in mono. But if you want to go over to like my Twitter page, which takes you to my sound cloud, you can actually download the 5.1 surround sound version of this.

And this is underneath the Indianapolis motor speedway inside the tunnel under the track as race cars goes over your head.

And sometimes it's not necessarily the initial zoom that we get excited by. It's the tail at the end of that long part. That's the part that I snip off and uses like an animal growl or something weird, right. It's it's using a sound a unique sound in an unexpected way. So we'll take a listen to that.

And yeah, you hear how that tail just stretches out and it could be anything if you let your imagination run wild with it. That's definitely been. Yeah, yeah, it's it's not your normal sound. I mean, you recognize it when you compare it to the Indy cars we listened to before, but but a little bit different in that long tail on the end as they fade away how it echoes through that tunnel. It could be a monster in a cave. It could be any number of things if you let your imagination run wild. But on Twitter, if you follow those two.
