Francis Ford Coppola has now weighed in, prompting even more responses.

Francis Ford Coppola has thrown his opinion to the fray calling Marvel movies despicable.

Wait, the guy who makes wine?

He said in a quote, when Martin Scorsese says that Marvel Pictures are not cinema,

he's right because we expect to learn something from cinema.

We expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration.

I don't know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again.

Martin was kind when he said that it's not cinema. He didn't say it's despicable, which I just say it is.

Which I guess would mean something from someone who made a good movie at some point in Zia's lifetime.

That might sound harsh, but so is the word despicable.

Well, funny you say that, Disney CEO Bob Iger says the same thing.

He also said that the comment is disrespectful to everyone involved in making the movies, the people who are putting their heart and their soul into it.

Yeah, that's rough, especially coming from such an esteemed and legendary filmmaker.

Bob Eiger did, however, say, quote, if they want to bitch about movies, it's certainly

they're right. Even if they don't agree, a lot of other members of the Marvel family say they

respect his right to make the comments, including John Favreau and Benedict Cumberbatch. Benedict Cumberbatch recently went on the Jenny McCarthy show and said,

I know there's been a lot of debate recently with these very fine filmmakers,

coming to the fores saying that these film franchises are taking over everything.

And I agree, you know, we don't want one king to rule all and to have a kind of monopoly.
