Now we're here to talk about football journeys.

So we're going to start with yours in 1920 and then we'll do it once.

I'll take 1920 if you've honestly.

Football journeys, it was that long ago.

Things have changed.

A lot of things have changed in the game now. My day, Mav, you know, it was all skill and speed. In your day, it was just as rough as you possibly could.

Tackles, dodjums, badden into people, how many bookings you go. It was different in my day.

Could tackle back then, like, couldn't you?

Well, funny enough, you knew that a centre half had one on you right away.

It's incredible that when you think what happens now.

You knew I played centre forward and I knew as a centre forward

that the centre half was got to lay one on me.

The minute I held the ball up, he was going to lay one on me, put a marker down. You'd have been brilliant in the old days. You know what I mean? That first tackle was through the booking. And you knew it was coming. The referee would just give them a warning. But the rules have changed now. For the good or a bad? I think it's gone a little bit soft, doesn't it?

I think when I was playing, you could still probably get away with the old tackle, but now with VAR, I think I'd have been in massive trouble because everything's pulled up, everything's looked at two or three times, some things I think aren't even a booking or are sending off now. But obviously to protect the players, the more skillful players like yourself. Yeah, though. I always had the pace, Marve.

I started as a wide man, believe it not.

They found out I wasn't good enough to play in that position.
