This week in part two of our marriage series, Dan and his wife, Becky Allender,

continued to talk about what it looks like to leave our families of origin and grow in love

and loyalty for one another.

Well, we are back for a second installment on the conversation of what it means to leave your mother and father.

And as we pondered, even our last podcast, it was interesting that there were, I wouldn't call them significant tensions. I would simply say that

there was a bit of, well, how far do you want to talk about your own mom and dad in a context

in which a few folks who don't know you or don't know much about you are going to hear natures of your family.

Already there's a kind of natural, honorable, protectiveness.

Definitely. Yes. I think my brother and my sister come to mind and my parents are both deceased.

But yes, yeah, there's a lot of things at stake in some means.

And so how we live between this world of honor, which always means that we desire the best,

even for those who are not on this earth, that we would

not in any way diminish or harm, but also where we have a commitment to tell the truth,

because the truth needs to be told about all our lives.

As we begin to look at our true mother and father, Abram and Sarai. God doesn't seem to have much

trouble saying how good they are for leaving Er of the Caledes to follow God's desire. And yet

within nine verses of their faithfulness, Abraham is selling Sarai into sexual slavery with Pharaoh

because he's afraid to lose his life.

So the incredible brokenness of every family, God seems to invite us to this intersection

between.

We are all profoundly broken, but there is a beauty not merely in rubbing those who have harmed
