There is nothing worth living for unless it is worth dying for.

My grandmother lived a life devoted to Jesus, and today her talks have been made available

in their original form.

So you too can be built up through the insights and mysteries God revealed to her throughout

her ministry.

Now without further ado, here is Elizabeth Elliott.

Marriage is both a revolution and a revelation, and I've used those words because I think

that there is no word that more adequately describes the enormity, the enormous intensity

of the change which has to come about in our lives when we become married people.

We expect a certain amount of change.

We can't possibly foresee or that it's going to mean.

And as Mike Mason has said in his book The Mystery of Marriage, it's kind of like having

a tree in the living room.

All of a sudden there are all kinds of changes and revolutions and revelations in our lives.

But it is an awesome privilege to have a husband or wife, to be given another human being

in a special way as a gift from God in a way that no other two human beings can relate.

And I think of what marriage is and what marriage does, what love does, I should say.

So marriage is, first of all, a revolution, and that's what I'm going to be talking

about tonight.

You have, I think, the titles of my talks.

The first talk would be entitled Love Gives Up Itself.
