Numbers chapter 36, verse 6.

This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zalofahad.

Let them marry whom they think best.

Only they shall marry within the clan of the tribe of their father. So we're at the

end of the book of numbers and Numbers 36-6 is obviously a specific stipulation instruction

that God gives to a particular family and clan in light of specific circumstances in the Old

Testament. And there are all kinds of reasons why this does not apply in the

New Testament. Like we don't directly say this today. You need to marry someone from a particular

family or a particular clan. At the same time, just think about the picture here and what God is

saying about marriage and family. One, the fact that God is the one who

has authority to speak to his people about marriage and family. So when we think about

marriage and family, we should be listening to God. We don't need to view marriage the way the

world views marriage. We need to view marriage the way God views marriage.

And we need to seek God and ask God who he wants us to marry.

We have sacrificed the right to determine anything in our lives.

Jesus is Lord over our lives.

And certainly that includes one of the biggest decisions we make in our lives,

who God is leading us to marry. And God does call us in the New Testament not to be unequally

yoked with unbelievers, not to be so closely tied together with people who are not walking

with Jesus that we walk away from Jesus because of

the influence of that yoke in our lives. And there's many applications of that. But surely it
