Summary

May 26, 1990. Wellington, Florida. Forty-year-old mother of one, Marlene Warren, was enjoying breakfast with her son and his friends when she heard a knock at the door of her home in the Wellington Aero Club in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Marlene walked from the kitchen to the front door to be greeted by a clown holding a basket of red and white flowers and two balloons.

“Oh, how lovely!” she exclaimed as she opened the door and reached out to take the gifts.

The clown produced a handgun and shot Marlene point-blank in the face. Who would want to kill Marlene and why? The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office was determined to find those answers.

People are asking us to have some banter, Justin.

0:52.0

You and I can banter for a long time.

0:54.0

It's funny. We can banter on the phone whenever we talk.

0:57.0

Sometimes we talk for like 30, 40 minutes.

1:00.0

But when we get into our state of mind to record,

1:04.0

you and I almost get into a zone.

1:07.0

Unless we plan ahead, it can be very difficult to have some of that banter

1:11.0

because we're so focused on the case.

1:13.0

People might not know this about me.

1:17.0

I promise I'm not trying to throw shade at any other podcast.

1:20.0

But one of my pet peeves is, if you have a podcast about a topic,

1:25.0

get to the point.

1:27.0

And that's one reason why I might turn off a podcast

1:31.0

as if they're bantering about something that isn't topic-related.

1:36.0

I get bored.

1:37.0

Unless it's friends of mine or somebody I know, I really don't like to listen to banter.

1:43.0

So therefore, I just assume other people don't like to listen to it.
