The president's state of the union message was last night.

It was different kind of state of the union.

I think now when you watch them, first of all, you're, you know, you're watching it through the lens of, I've heard so much about Joe Biden, you know, not knowing where he is and not being able to find the men's room and he doesn't,

you know, doesn't know what day it is, all this stuff. The guy comes out and he, you know, he was

firing heat. And again, then you can talk about the substance of it, but that right away was like,

wow. And then I watched the GOP response as well. So for that and also California issues,

I turn to Alex Michelson. He is the host of the issue is on Fox 11, and it's also across television stations in California. I want to check

in on Prop 1, where that sits and talk to him generally about politics in California. Hi, Alex.

Hey, Mark, good to be with you.

Yes, sir. Thoughts on last night?

Well, I mean, it was a level of energy that we haven't seen from Joe Biden in years.

For Democrats who privately have worried for months that Joe Biden is too old and who were sort of collectively holding their breath that he would be able to literally make it to the stage last night.

I think they were surprised, relieved, and in some ways excited, not only to not, you know, to vote against Donald Trump, but that he's somebody who has some fight in him.

There is no doubt, especially somebody who's covered him and seen him up close, including a couple weeks ago when he was here in California, that his voice was stronger, his walk was stronger. I mean, everything about him was more intense.

On the Republican side, people were openly calling him jacked up Joe. That's what John Hannity would say,

sort of claiming that he was injected with some sort of drugs to get him, you know, temporarily juiced up and ready to go.

And that seems to be the thing.

It was interesting how a lot of the president's critics before the speech were frustrated

that he was too old, too slow, spoke too softly, and wasn't coherent.

And then at the end of the night, say that he's too loud, too strong, and on drugs.
