A lot going on today.

But one of the highest profile pieces of testimony that Capitol Hill has seen in some time came from FBI director Christopher Ray today.

I want to get right into that. Luke, Barr is standing by with ABC. And Luke, can you fill me in?

I guess there were some revelations from this testimony from Christopher Ray today.

Yeah, Mark, thanks for having me. So what we found out today was that a week before, Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

He became, quote, very focused on Trump and in the rally. That's what the FBI director testified to the House Judiciary Committee today.

And we also found out that Crook searched for information on the assassination of President john f kennedy in 1963 uh ray said quote

on july sixth he did a google search for quote how how far away was oswald from kennedy mark

so he was in a sense already lining up the fact that he was going to be the guy on the roof or the guy

some distance away from his target then?

It appears that at least with the FBI director had laid out today, that he did some sort of planning.

He also visited the site.

The FBI director said a day before, so that would be on July 5th.

And he also registered for the be on July 5th. And he also registered for the,

for the rally on July 6th. So it appears that the FBI is connecting some dots as to what led up to Crook's opening fire on the former president. And they discovered explosive devices in his car?

Yeah, so the FBI says they discovered two explosive devices in his car, one at his house.

The FBI director also said that on his person, they found a transmitter, which would be connected

to the devices.
