Good morning, Mark.

Thank you.

So, hey, you wrote about the mayoral race this morning, and Rudy Giuliani.

His victory in 93, I'm trying to remember back

he lost in 89.

Correct. And then he ran in 93. I remember being

actually helping him with the campaign

doing a few speaking things,

I'm seeing for him. And

remember everybody saying he didn't have a chance a Republican can't win.

So does that sound familiar?

Right, right.

Well, it's an interesting comparison between the two races, 89 and 93.

David Dinkins, you'll remember, had defeated Ed Koch in 89 in the Democratic primary and ended up winning the general against Rudy by about 50,000 votes.

And in 93, Rudy ran again.

They ran against each other, and this time Rudy won by about 50,000 votes. Very close elections.

Wouldn't you agree, though, that the Rudy figure here in this race is Curtis Slewa, the non-traditional politician, the crime fighter, one-issue kind of thing?
