Amid the glitz and glitter of a bustling in movie town at the height of its golden age.

The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right, a beacon for the show business elite.

Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.

... The time is now, on an evening very much the one we have just witnessed.

Tonight's story of the Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of production.

This is you may recognize as a maintenance surface elevator, still in operation, waiting for you.

We invite you if you dare to step aboard because in tonight's episode you are the star,

and this elevator travels directly to the twilight zone.

If you recognize that opening narration, then you've probably at some point

been a guest at the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Now there are, and there have been several versions of this particular hotel,

but the original opened on July 22nd, 1994, at Disney's MGM Studios in Florida.

In the late 80s and early 90s, the Disney Imagineers were looking for new and exciting themed rides for their Florida park.

And what better property is there to excite the imagination of park visitors than a visit to the dimension of imagination itself?

And so, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was born.

So picture, if you will, a walk through the lobby of an ornate 1930s hotel, and when you enter

the elevator, you are transported to the fifth dimension itself, where you're welcomed

by none other than Rod Sailing.
