Hi everyone and thank you for tuning in to the 267th episode of Awards Chatter, the Hollywood

reporters awards podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and my guest today is a

beloved TV actor who made his name 30 years ago as Zach Morris on the NBC sitcoms Saved by the Bell and who has appeared

on many other notable series including ABC's NYPD Blue and TNTs Franklin and

and Bash on route to his current gig as the star of Foxes The Passage, a

dystopian vampire thriller of a drama series for which he could conceivably land the first

primetime Emmy nomination of his 35-year career, Mark Paul Gosselar.

Over the course of our conversation at the offices of the Hollywood reporter, the 45-year-old

and I discussed how he broke into show business as a toddler and wound up

playing Zach Morris initially on the Disney Channel short-lived series Good Morning

Miss Bliss which was then reimagined as saved by the bell, how he was professionally, socially, and

financially impacted by his five years in the Save by the Bell sphere, which

included the series, spin-off series, and two TV movies, and how things changed for him when that chapter came to an end.

How he then emerged from child stardom, shed his momager, and re-emerged as a constantly in-demand adult actor,

thanks in no small part to the late Stephen Bochko,

who was behind not only NYPD Blue,

but also Commander-in-Chief and Raising the Bar

to other shows on which Goslar appeared,

and why his last two shows, Fox's pitch

and now the passage, are among those of which he is proudest.
