He, of course, is the host of the morning show, Len Berman and Michael Reedle every morning, 6 to 10 a.m.

And before that show, did you ever get up that early in your life?

I went to bed at that time. I went to bed because I was covering Broadway for 25 years. So I would roll out of an opening night and the opening night party and maybe have a nightcap or two here and there at Sardis. And then I would be, you know, going home around 2.30, 3.30 in the morning. And then I would say, oh, the alarm went off at noon. And I'd wake up at noon, and then I would think, oh, I got to write a column. So I would get myself to the pool, do 50 laps to wake myself up, and then I could write, you know, a column destroying a show like, oh, well, Spider-Man turned off the dark at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. So that was my life and that I'd go out again.

But now, no, I live like, as my old friend Elaine Stritch, quoting Ethel Merman said,

Ethel Merman said to Elaine, Elaine, you want to be the star of a Broadway show?

You have to live like an effing none.

That great Broadway world, all those great writers. I got to ask you, I was thinking about our old buddy Larry

Gelbart the other day because I remembered my wife and I were watching the movie Tootsie,

which is a great, great movie that Larry wrote. And I remember Larry was once asked,
