Well, we turn now to the dean himself.

Ed Rollins, one of the great, great political minds in the country.

You know, he's worked in the White House, his top political advisor to people like Ronald Reagan.

He ran the most successful

presidential campaign ever. And he's chief, he was chief political advisor of the House Republicans

and ran the NRC, the House political arm. And he's with us right now. Ed Rollins, how you

doing? Good morning, Mark. How are you? Very good. Interesting times. Interesting times we live in. Yeah, a bunch of stuff to ask you now. McCarthy said he had a great meeting with Biden. You've been in the room in these kind of meetings. Listen, aren't they both set with whatever they have to do politically? I mean, what do they actually do in the room? Well, my sense is they, you know, the president always starts the conversation, and I'm sure he

basically said, listen, you know, tell me what cuts you want to make, and McCarthy didn't have any

cuts to make at that point in time. I think the critical thing is, they've drawn the line in the

sand on this, extending the, they had the debt debt ceiling we've already spent the money

that's in the debt ceiling this is this is paying your credit card bill what

what McCarthy really needs to do is focus on taking his committees in the house

which is where all money bills start and make them actually be active there are are 13 committees that basically expend money, make them basically make the cuts

that they need to make in defense and other places.

That's what the big money is.

And obviously, that's going to be how they're going to be measured by the job.

McCarthy's got a very tough mission, obviously, with a four-seat margin.

There's always two or three of members missing. He has to learn how to count votes. Obviously, he didn't count votes effectively when he had to go through 15 ballots to get the speakership. They didn't count votes effectively when they basically didn't get the margins. They said they were going to get, this was a guy who was saying, along with New Kingers, they're going to get 20 or 30 seats. Majority they didn't. What they have to do, and he'll be measured by a historical perspective, is if he holds the house, that's going to be a real challenge. Yeah. Hey, when you say make cuts, people say, well, you can't cut defense. Well, you can't cut roads, infrastructure. You can't cut medical stuff. but don't we overpay like 10,000 percent for everything if we just fix that sure you can't say you can't go

into the defense department and make cuts when you've got multi-billion dollar budgets uh you know
