Hey, let me start with this.

1984, Reagan campaign.

You were running things.

Reagan had a bad first debate.

He lost the first debate, but he went on to a landslide.

Do you remember that period and how he turned it around?

I remember it very well.

You know, he knew he knew he didn't do well.

Historically, incumbent presidents don't do well.

For the simple reason, no one's on a stage with him as an equal for the first three

or four years.

And so all of a sudden the debate, someone's standing there being treated as an equal.

And Reagan had it an off night.
