at the New York Post. Steve Kuzzo, how you doing? Hey, good morning, Mark. So, hey, you wrote this column, City and Crisis. You know,

you talk to most people, New York is finished, it's over, the crime. Meantime I walk around,

I'm looking out the window, a lot of traffic, all the restaurants are busy. What's the story?

Well, I think there's a whole bunch of stuff going on. We are in crisis, but the crisis isn't everywhere.

It depends on what part of town you're talking about.

And, you know, the biggest problem thing that most people are afraid of is crime, major crime, you know, murders, rapes, assaults.

And the truth is that although, you know, the New York Post and the rest of the media

do focus on it extensively, it's mainly concentrated in a handful of neighborhoods in the city. We did a

story a few months ago that there are six precincts in the Bronx and Brooklyn that account for, excuse me,

26% of all the shootings in the city.

That's amazing when you consider that there are 77 precincts, okay?

Wow.

And the truth is that, with the odd occasional exception, which we've always had,

if you're in most of Midtown,

Upper West Side, Park Slope in Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, there really isn't that much to worry about.

What there is to worry about is the often disgusting street conditions which you know almost don't know

way to start with this okay with the homeless people vagrants people sleeping on

subway platforms a guy sleeping in my car this morning on the on the after it's

amazing that the guy was totally dead and nobody paid any attention. Maybe he was dead.

I don't know.
