better. I mean, you know, the government has made a total mess out of the economy. You've got this

galloping inflation that's eating the country alive. And so I don't see any, I'm not an economist, but I don't see any, you know, sudden

reversal of these trends.

And restaurants, it isn't just, they've got so many challenges.

It isn't just that the food costs are going up.

You know, fish that, seafood that used to be relatively cheap, like octopus, has now doubled in price.

Beef has been going up for a year and a half.

Even staples like sugar and salt and flour are going up.

And it isn't just the food costs.

You know, restaurants are complicated

businesses.

They have to buy a lot of paper goods, especially restaurants that do a lot of takeout and

delivery.

You've got to package this stuff.

And those courts have gone up over the moon.

My friend Penny Glazier and her husband Peter own a couple of restaurants in Brooklyn.

And the cost of simple things, like our container paper and masks that the cooks have to wear,

have gone up by tripled in the last year.

And that's somehow they've got to figure out a way to pass this on to customers without, you know, turning customers off completely.
