Good morning, Mark.

Thank you.

Hey, you wrote about Columbia University.

Boy, they got rid of that awful president.

But the new one sounds worse.

Here they're gone tomorrow. What are they thinking? It's the ultimate hot seat. I don't know

what they're thinking, Mark. It strikes me that part of it has to be, because it's a very secret of board of

trustees. We never really hear from them directly. And this new president, Claire Schutman, acting

president, comes out of the trustee. She was co-chair for a long time and a former journalist,

which, you know know makes me suspicious

a CNN journalist yeah right which is not really a journalist but look I think if I'm reading

the tea leaves correctly what's going on there is that there's incredible infighting with a lot of the professors

saying, look, if you don't, meaning the president of the university, whoever that is, if you don't

get this straightened out and we'd lose $400 million or more from Columbia, then I'm going to have to lay off seven people in my department.

And then you magnify that.

And I think that what's happened is there's this sense that somebody has to stop the train

and nobody knows how to do it because you have, you know, the serious researchers are the ones who
