0:36.8

i'm a great tweeter.

0:37.9

And then you know, I'll take it.

0:36.2

Yeah. Well, who wants to be the weatherman? It doesn't mean anything. You know what? Do you believe there's still weathermen around? I mean, I have friends that are meteorologists. I don't get me wrong, but I just could look at the phone and get my weather there. so why do I need someone on TV for five minutes to explain it to me?

2:37.6

I mean, I'm surprised that hasn't gone like the way of like the toll collector, you know? Like it's extinct. It's remarkable. Yeah. Hey, speaking of this extinct, Ron DeSantis, we were talking about this before. When you're a great governor, Scott Walker, a Dukakis, you know, and then you run for president in your disaster. Now you've screwed up your image forever. I mean, how does DeSantis recover? That's a great question. And, you know, I'll say that. It doesn't look like I, as you know, during our appearances on Cudlow, was a lot more optimistic about the DeSantis campaign than you were. And I'll say now, and I know it's only July, and we've got a long way to go to Iowa. But it appears that Mark Simone was right on this one. And I wrote a column, actually, at the time, openly wondering out loud, and this was, I think, in like, April, that is Ron DeSantis the next Ronald Reagan, right? California governor that becomes president, or is he the next Scott Walker? Yes. And it's looking more like Walker now. Now, I will say there is still a debate that's happening in a couple of weeks in Milwaukee, August 23rd, I want to say the date is, and if DeSantis can do well there, and if Trump shows up, and I'd love to hear if you think he should or not, I think he should because I think you have to earn the nomination. And don't think about the nomination so much to think about the general election and the independence and suburban voters and women particularly and Hispanics, black vote. You have a huge stage there for Donald Trump, and that's where you can reintroduce yourself to the American people while post-driving your opponents like DeSantis. So I think it would be a net positive for him to show up. But if he doesn't, and DeSantis is there, he'll be the target of Christy and of Nikki Haley and so on, so that won't go well for him. So maybe Trump sees it that way. uh so i i'm not going to count him out completely, but that debate will be everything for him.

2:41.1

And then from there, Iowa will be obviously the most crucial test.

2:45.4

Because remember 2016, Trump did lose Iowa to take Cruz, but this is a different time now,

2:46.8

and Trump has a record to run on.

2:50.6

And obviously these indictments are only helping him somehow, which just blows my mind. But that's him against the deep state, and that's why so many people are riling around him. So I guess I'm giving you a very long answer to this question, Mark. I think, you know, in the end, DeSantis could run again in 2028, and without Trump there, maybe that will be. But, well, Reagan remember, ran in 76 and didn't win, and then he came back at 1 in 80. So maybe that happens. And then again, Reagan had this thing called charisma and command of the screen based on, you know, his acting and what that lent to him. And DeSathe simply does not have that. So I think that's the problem for him right now is that he's just not connecting with people because the charisma the record is

3:24.8

there the charisma is not yeah remember Reagan when he failed in 76 wherever he was still dazzling

3:30.7

he made the greatest speech at the convention and he was really impressive we can't say that
