why exactly did the New York Times, the paper of record, somehow leave me off theirs, even though I know my book sold more copies than most other books on that list.

I think they might be biased, Mark. It just hit me in Epiphany. Well, you know,

that Dick Morris book, he had the actual sales figures, and he outsold 12 books that were on

the New York Times best sell the list, but they still wouldn't put them on there. So this is a good

column for you, how they actually doctor the list. That's the thing, right? It's like a baseball score, you know?

I mean, if the Padres beat the Mets six to nothing, then the Padres won the game by six runs. And that would be like the New York Times stepping and saying, no, no, no, no, no. You know, we really don't like those Padres. We think the Mets won, and we're going to declare them the victor. like it's it's just basic math around who sold the most books, and this is how they operate.

But, you know, in 1983, the author of The Exorcist actually sued the New York Times for not

putting him on their list, because I think there was some bonuses in his book contract that said,

if you're a New York Times bestseller, then you get

X amount of money. He sued them, and they had to admit in court that it's not about book sales.

It's an editorial process. Oh, so it's about the books you like, not the books that are sold.

It's just remarkable that that paper is called the paper of record when it's really just, well,

let's put this one. They haven't endorsed the Republican presidential candidate since 1956, Mark. That means they endorsed Mondale over Reagan, carryover Bush, the caucus over George H.W. Bush. Yeah, they really have the pulse of the people all right. Isn't this the paper that claims there's no election tampering? They tamper with their own list?

That's a very good point, right?

I mean, if you're just counting votes, if you're just counting books,

it should be consistent.
