Summary

Join Michael Malice ("YOUR WELCOME") and Senior Writer, Mark Hemingway (Co-Author of “Rigged”), as they cover the many scheming tools put in place to secure democratic preferred results in the 2020 election. Were some the most egregious tactics illegal and hidden behind the scenes, or were these maneuvers legal and done right in front of the public eye? Join the two as they discuss what happened, and what can be done in the future to restore a balance to the voting process and election results. On me just can't take it inside

Good afternoon Michael Malice here. Let that be your welcome for the next hour. I'm actually extremely excited to have with me Mark Hemingway who is co-author with his life, his wife, the Molly having way former your welcome guest, the book is called rigged and it's about the 2020 election.

0:45.0

And I read the book I learned a lot and I'm really excited to dive into this because what we're told by the corporate press is this election was the most above board, no votes for stolen so on and so forth and there were no irregularities and all this nonsense.

1:03.0

But you broke down in this book isn't some sort of ballot stuffing thing that night the point you and Molly made is there were very many mechanisms put into place throughout 2020 and even previously to force an outcome preferable to the democratic party in effect they weren't breaking the rules but they were changing the rules in order to exploit the vote.

1:27.0

And this is something one would expect both political parties to do, but for some reason the Republicans have historically not been something enough to do it to their advantage. Is that correct?

1:37.0

Yeah, I think that's an accurate summation. I mean the twofold one is to just explain to people that had doubts about what happened with the election one you're not wrong.

1:45.0

To be concerned about all the crazy stuff that happened you know an election in the middle of the pandemic and riots and media gaslighting and all these other things but also secondarily post election of course there were a lot of crazy conspiracies out there spinning around partly because people were so gaslighted by all this stuff and the erosion of trust in the major media deservedly so.

2:05.0

You know made it so a lot of people were casting about for explanations for you know how things happened that you know weren't always above board and conspiratorial but you know as you point out I mean like this this stuff all happened out in the open you know some of the most egregious and unbelievably unfair and unconsumable things that happened were perfectly legal and you know this kind of you know spells out sort of the narrative of an entire campaign of this stuff.

2:29.0

There was one boss tweed was someone associated with Tamini Hall which is something historically regard as the height of urban corruption and he had a quote I'm I tweeted out and blanking with these that quote was you can nominate whoever you want as long as I get to count the votes and there's no question that turnout is what wins elections no one denies this and if you turn out your people and you make sure the other people don't turn out you're going to win regardless of what the electorate might want in another circumstance.

2:58.0

Yeah I mean that's exactly right I mean turn out a lot of these other things are the whole game you know so that was a huge part of the push behind say mail in voting you know it wasn't that long ago I mean even 10 years ago you read you read new stories in the New York Times and New York Times would say well actually mail in voting is the largest source of electoral fraud in the United States and you know yes there's not a huge amount of fraud necessarily in American elections thank God but the reality is is anytime you have an election with 160 million votes cast.

3:27.0

You're going to have fraud around the margins and then you start having elections that are decided by 40,000 votes across a handful of states and all of a sudden it does cast a lot of doubt on the things in just in terms of like people's you know confidence in the system and you know mail in

3:41.0

bailing most you know obviously a huge part of that democrats you know wanted it for whatever well I mean democratic activists and campaign people have come out and flat out said that you know mail in

3:54.0

bailing was key to Joe Biden's victory you know for whatever reason democrats and they tend to have a lot more sort of human volunteers in terms of union personnel in terms of you know young democratic activists that are

4:07.0

willing to let go out on the streets and do things like ballot harvest which is where you have third parties going around and nursing homes and other

4:13.0

places where there are a lot of people in collecting ballots and delivering them and so that was you know a big part of their strategy and at the same time

4:20.0

this was going on there was a million lawsuits for instance to get rid of say signature matching which is like one of the few security bear measures that you know mail ballots have you know and the fact that

4:31.0

mail balloting was prone to fraud was not a you know this isn't something like crazy thing you know MIT and Caltech put out reported a little over a decade ago that said that

4:40.0

state should curb or you know get away with do away with mail and ballots altogether in favor of expanding you know the length of time that people can vote in person

4:49.0

because it's that much more susceptible to fraud I mean Jimmy Carter let up bipartisan you know commission on the stuff that it concluded the mail and

4:56.0

balloting fraud was a problem I mean 10 15 years ago you could say this and then all of a sudden last year if you were questioning mail

5:02.0

and balloting you know you were anti democracy what one the biggest things I learned while reading this book was about the role mark Zuckerberg had in terms
