One of President Trump's loudest defenders is walking away from Washington. Marjorie

Taylor Green says she'll leave Congress January 5th. Blaming a primary fight, she says Trump helped ignite.

Green made the announcement in a nearly 11-minute online video, saying she didn't want her district

to go through what she called a hurtful

primary pushed by the man she once backed. Take a listen. I have too much self-respect and dignity.

I love my family way too much and I do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful

and hateful primary against me by the president

that we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely

lose the midterms."

Her announcement follows a month's long public split with Trump.

She's criticized him over the Epstein files, foreign policy, and health care.

Meanwhile, Trump hit back, calling her a traitor and, quote, wacky, and threatened to back whoever runs against her.

The White House didn't comment Friday, but Trump told ABC News that her resignation is, quote, great news for the country.

Green rose to national attention as a

MAGA hardliner. She aligned with conspiracy theories, clashed with party leadership, and became one of

the most visible far-right voices on Capitol Hill. She was also a loyal Trump surrogate through his time

out of office. But this year, the cracks formed.

She publicly disagreed with Trump, complained her bills were ignored in a Congress run

by her own party, and said lawmakers have been sidelined since Republicans took full control
