Summary

Have you ever heard the phrase, "let them eat cake"? If so, you probably attribute the phrase to the last queen of France. The infamous Marie Antoinette. Let's get this out of the way right now. She didn't say that. The phrase actually originated from a German folk tale that predates her birth. Are we saying that she was the perfect queen though? No. Marie was not raised to rule. Brought at the Austrian court of her impressive mother, Maria Theresa, Marie should not have lacked for education. Yet, little Marie Antonia was not inclined to reading. Anyway, she was never meant to be queen of France. But, as fate would have it, the unprepared teenage Marie finds herself thrown into the French court and the political intrigue at Versaille. Marie's tale is truly heartbreaking and we wish we had better news. Either way, she's definitely made an impression since we're still talking about her to this day.
