teacher, the author of 11 books, four of which were number one New York Times bestsellers,

and the founder of Project Angel Food, a Meals on Wheels program

that serves homebound people with AIDS in the L.A. area. She's also the co-founder of the Peace Alliance,

a grassroots campaign that supports legislation to establish a United States Department of Peace.

She works tirelessly to end poverty in the United States and around the world.
