Maldonado. She is an amazing tolkin scholar bringing together right

get this get this emmanuel levinas oh yeah all that post-structuralist phenomenal logical hype

and jr tolken she is currently a ph PhD candidate finishing up the dissertation, right? We interrupted

it for this conversation, exploring ethics and otherness in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. Well,

let's just say we had a bunch of fun. If you are in Tolkien nerd, nerd, then you'll know there's

been quite the response to rings of power.

Some of it from kind of the far right-wing circles disturbed that basically everyone in it's not white.

And Mariana has been invested in that work as a scholar, and then it gets raised in a public conversation.

So we explore that, her own relationship to Tolkien, and get super, super nerdy, you know, talking about a bunch of the philosophers that, well, you know, I like talking about Ann J.R. Tolkien.
