I am Jason Romano, where we bring to you a snippet from a previous Sports Spectrum

podcast conversation. And today we go back to July of 2018. And we hear from Maria Taylor, Maria, a

former ESPN announcer, when we talked to her, she was still with ESPN. And now she's with NBC

sports doing amazing things, particularly on the Olympics. That's where she made her on-air debut

with NBC. And just this past May, it was announced that she would be replacing Mike Tariko as the lead host of Football Night in America, the pregame show that proceeds, or if you will, leads into Sunday night football on NBC.

And it's great to have the NFL back.

And Maria Taylor was fantastic when we talked to her.

But one of the unique, I think, questions that we get to ask is what is a spiritual battle

that you're going through right now?

We're all going through spiritual battles and I asked Maria Taylor that question in 2018.

And I thought her answer was just perfect for the sports spectrum.

Yeah, I think it's just, it is that comparison, because I think comparison is the biggest

thief of joy.

And we constantly live in a space where we think, you know, one, our job could be taken

away from us or it's very subjective.

So anyone can decide it anytime that they don't like Maria anymore. But does that

mean? No. You know what I mean? Like I have to remember that at the end of the day, the Lord loves me
