Today's story is one that I can't believe I missed somehow.

I was planning to take some mental time off and watch Christmas vacation 68 times before the

end of the year. But a friend asked, have you ever seen the movie Bernie with Jack Black?

And I assume they meant Bernie as in Bernie Madoff. And yeah, I've seen that movie.

But the Jack Black thing confused me, so I looked it up and I was like,

now I don't know what this is.

And you guys, what a weird little movie.

We're not going to talk specifically about the movie in this podcast,

but the true and equally weird story it was based on.

This is how Marge ended up in the freezer.

Bernhardt Tida, or Bernie, as he preferred, met the wealthy widow Marjorie Nugent's in March 1990 at her husband's funeral, which Tita helped arrange as assistant director at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Carthage, Texas.

Bernie did the embalming, he helped pick out the coffin and the headstone.
