Yesterday, Eve, as the moon came up in the east, I saw a beast rise out of the sea.

At first I thought it was a drag queen, but then I realized it was the real thing.

So I took shelter in a bookstore around the corner called the folklore, where they sell

pendulums and ointments and ornaments of gold and potions and lotions to moisturize your soul. And I thought,

do they know that the end is near? That the end is here, do these items really give them hope?

Do they think they'll be protected from the beast by using a bar of witch hazel soap?

And the lady behind the lace with the porcelain face and smoky eyes looked at me in the eyes from behind her disguise and said, yes, step outside and you will realize.

There was only light from the eclipse. Everything was gone.

It was a trip.

The only thing left standing was the folklore.

So I walked in through the open door, where I had been before,

and where I was reminded of why I came back for more.
