| 0:20.0 | I'm your host, Mike Calabrese today. I am joined by Jason Lisk from Pool Genius. He's here for one simple reason, and it's to help you win your pool. And it's important to note right off the top. I didn't say help you predict the outcome of every game. He has the tools to help you win your pool by optimizing your strategy. And we're going to get into exactly what that means throughout this episode. But before we get into that, Jason, let me ask you, when did you fall in love with March Madness? Was there a moment, a team, a player that really hooked you? I certainly have mine ready, but I want to hear from you first. Yeah, so I'm from Kansas City. I'm not a Jayhawks fan. I do remember the 86 final |
| 0:58.7 | four though fairly vividly. I remember watching the 83 game with NC State, but I didn't watch |
| 1:05.3 | the rest of the tournament. I remember watching 86. And then in 87, I fell in love with Derek |
| 1:10.6 | Chivas and the Missouri |
| 1:12.5 | Tigers. They won the big eight unexpectedly and then lost to Xavier. So my first experience |
| 1:17.6 | rooting for a team heavily was to see them lose and then see them lose the next year to Rhode Island |
| 1:23.3 | and to see them lose to Northern Iowa a few years later as a three seed. So I had a great start as a youngster to watching March Madness. I had a lot of heartbreak. Yeah, I won't bring up Tyos Edney or that Marquette. What was it, was it Novak? Was he the one burying all the shots against Missou pushing them? Yeah, I mean, Missouri is clearly the best program to have never gone to the final four. And having spent a year on campus there as a freshman at the University of Missouri, I can attest, yeah, the other programs, it's fine to say that you're into football or, you know, the baseball team. But it's a basketball school. And that's really the heartbeat of the university there in Columbia, Missouri. So I'm with you in that regard. |
| 2:02.8 | I've been pulling for the Tigers, the cream rush days. |
| 2:06.6 | I got a cream rush jersey in my closet still to this day. |
| 2:09.5 | For me, it was the Bryce Drew shot against Ole Miss. |
| 2:13.4 | I was already a big fan at that point of college basketball in the tournament. |
| 2:16.6 | But that was one of those magic moments that just solidified it, |
| 2:18.2 | which is this is the absolute best sporting vehicle tournaments, whatever you, however you want to think about this product, |
| 2:23.8 | it is so much better than anything else out there in the market. |
