So just the other day I heard the word that one of the last of the old-time contactees,

Howard Menger, the New Jersey sign painter, sometimes called the Jersey Adamski, died.

Did you know Howard Menger at all, Don Eckers?

I didn't know him personally.

I, of course, knew who he was, but no, I didn't know him personally.

I'll tell you a story.

A few years ago, more than a few years ago, make it a few decades ago, I was having lunch

with a certain unmentionable UFO personality from New York, and we went

to this diner across from that person's office, and we had lunch with Howard Menger.

Now, Menger started talking about maybe his contacts were really government experiments

of some kind, that he had been victimized by the government into believing that he

was meeting Venusians or Saturnians or whatever the heck he was meeting in the New Jersey

swamps or whatever. Strange, strange, strange odyssey. And he seemed to be a pleasant fellow.

He was not, as they say, critical of the

fact that the person with whom I had lunch also was someone who had never really said a good thing

in print about Howard Menger. He seemed like a pleasant fellow. Then he was supposedly building his

own flying saucer when he moved to Florida.
