Good morning, everyone. I'm Playbook Deputy Editor Zach Stanton. It's Monday, March 31st,

and here's what's driving the day. After seven days dominated by a single story,

that being Signalgate, Washington is heading into a new week with a series of major stories that will be

driving the narrative here in Washington. And today I have a curtain raiser for you on what to expect.

Let's start with Donald Trump. Over the weekend, President Donald Trump repeatedly made news

in a series of interviews with NBC's Kristen Welker. He said he was, quote, pissed off, unquote,

at Russian President Vladimir Putin,

and will impose tariffs on Russian oil if he believes Putin is responsible for a lack of progress

on a ceasefire in Ukraine. He threatened to bomb Iran if it doesn't come to an agreement about its

nuclear program. He said he was serious about seeking a constitutionally prohibited third term as president, citing

his popularity while vowing that, quote, there are methods, unquote, for continuing on as president,

regardless of what the Constitution says. And in a political gift to Democrats that you are sure to see

repeated ad nauseum in the party's ads this cycle. He was asked whether American

auto companies will be forced to raise prices given his new tariffs. His response,

quote, I couldn't care less if they raise prices because people are going to start buying

American-made cars, unquote. You can practically hear the cheers from the DNC headquarters over that one. Those tariffs are

one of the other big storylines to watch this week. On Wednesday, the president is set to unveil a major

wave of new tariffs on U.S. trading partners, and another new tranche of tariffs is set to take effect,

a sweeping event that he has billed as Liberation Day. To be sure, a lot is still up in

the air here, including the size of those tariffs and the countries targeted by them.
