early stage staff-level conversations with Speaker Nancy Pelosi's staff about drug pricing,

according to sources in both camps. The effort is being spearheaded

on the administration's end by the DPC's Joe Grogan, HHS, and the Ledge Affair Shop. And on Pelosi's

end, it's being handled by Wendell Primus, the speaker's longtime health policy staffer. Here are the politics.

Trump is hungry for a domestic legislative victory, and this is an issue

Democrats and the Trump administration have some agreement on. But, of course, getting anything done

will be an uphill battle, and the Trump administration is known for its uneven handling of complex

Pelosi's birthdays today was celebrated by Barack Obama at a reception

she organized last night for freshman Democrats at the Kalorama home of former ambassador Esther

Cooper Smith. Obama saying happy birthday to Pelosi and presented her with flowers. Obama said of

Pelosi, the reason I love Nancy is because she combines a deep belief in making this

country more just and more fair and better for our kids with a toughness that is frankly unmet.

She knows how to fight for her principles, but she also knows the importance of just getting
