I don't know if he told you about it, but he was in traffic at the Toll Plaza going into San Francisco. and if you've ever been on the freeway going

it's just jammed. Oh my goodness.

just jammed it is oh my goodness just jammed and you sit there and you wait and then they'll close

down lanes you've been in so everybody has to merge suddenly right well ray uh needed to merge and

he asked the lady in the lane next to me hey i need a pole in here if that. And she let him have it. I mean, she cussed him out and went on and on and on and on and eventually he just rolled up his window. He went forward a little bit, and the next car in front of her let him in. Okay. So now he's two cars in front of her. Right. So what he is, it's five bucks for the toll. He paid for her toll. Did he? I thought, dude, that is absolutely ingenious on several levels. Mm-hmm. Because most of us would just sit there and simmer. Like, I can't believe that lady lost it. I mean, what was supposed to do? I was asking, instead of simmering about it, how do you think he felt after he paid

the toll for her? Much better than if he would astude in that anger and agitation. It's actually

funny. You want to watch in the rearview mirror to see like when the guy explains it. And you actually

walk away.

I think when you act on behalf of somebody who's making you angry, you not only defuse the angry, you actually increase your love for that person.

I agree.

If you just act, if you do something, so now you've been kind to someone who doesn't deserve

it.

You are the one who wins, not over that person, but you just win your day wins because now you are not consumed with anger.

Instead, you're actually experiencing something called joy.

We were just talking about my friend who paid for the toll for the lady behind him after she cussed him out. And it was such a

brilliant move for him to do that. And he was laughing, talking about it. But it was like five bucks,

the toll. Just so genius. And what's funny, I wrote this book about anger. It's called Unoffendable.

As I've presented this material to people, there are people who, honestly, they want to be angry. They want to be angry. Do they feel entitled to it? I think entitled to it. I think they think it's a virtue. Okay. Really? Oh, absolutely. People do. They think, well, I'm supposed to be angry. But the Bible never says that. Ever. It tells us to get rid of it. Get rid of it. Get rid of it. Get rid of it.

It's always negatively described when it comes to humans. But they think they're God because God has

righteous anger, therefore I'm entitled to right. Now righteous anger is a big thing in the church.

A lot of people talk about that. Yeah, you grow up believing in it. You think it's in there. It's not. It's shocking, but it's not, except for God. But he's sinless. I'm not. And the very thing that you think justifies your quote-unquote righteous anger is the very thing that you're called to forgive. Think about it. That's the very thing you're supposed to drop.
