Take-off was delayed, but he was sure he could make up the time in the air.

The scheduled flight from Barcelona to Dusseldorf was an easy two-hour jaunt that flew over the beautiful French Alps. There was the usual

eclectic group on board, an engineer on his way home from a business trip, an opera singer

traveling with her young son, and several high school students returning from a Spanish exchange

program. None of them knew what was coming. Only one person on the plane had any

idea that the flight wouldn't be normal. The co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz. He had already researched the
