to the town of Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, England on March 21, 2002. After school, 13-year-old

Millie Dowler and her friends went to eat at a cafe.

At around 3.47 p.m., she called her father to tell him she'd be back home in half an hour.

A few minutes later, she said goodbye to her friends and started walking home, a trip that

usually took around 20 minutes.

At 408, a witness spotted her walking alone down the street to her

home. It was the last time anyone would see Millie alive. The girls should have been home just

after four, but the hour came and went. Then five and six. By 7 p.m., her parents had reported her missing.
