On Sunday, March 9th at around 8.42 p.m., police and Perry, Iowa responded to a home

on the 2,600 block of Lucinda Street after a man called 911 and stated that he had killed

his wife.

When responding officers arrived on the scene,

they encountered 75-year-old Richard Hosing, who had blood on his hands and on his clothing. He was

detained and placed in a patrol car while officers went inside the home. As officers started clearing

the house looking for potential threats, they discovered a woman dead in a bedroom within the home.

It appeared that the woman had sustained a significant wound to her throat, and as such,

she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Jean Hosing, Richard's wife.

A bloody knife was also located within the home and believed to be the murder weapon, used in the

In a later released criminal complaint, it was learned that Richard had spoken with officers at the scene regarding Jean's death.
