Welcome to the Dennis Brager Show. I'm John Hinderocker from Powerline,

filling in for Dennis today. I'm coming to you from Minnesota. And if you have been following

the news at all, you know what the big story in Minnesota is these days.

It is the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin for the alleged murder of George Floyd.

And that trial has been dominating the news here in Minnesota. And it's been obviously a big

story in the news around the country. I'm planning on spending the entire first hour of the show

today talking about the trial. I've got a guest coming on a little while. We'll talk about it.

And also take your calls, get your thoughts on what's going on with this

this trial, which some view is kind of a world historical event. And I want to start by just kind

of painting the scene for you of what's going on here in Minnesota and specifically

in the city of Minneapolis because this trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin

really does have some some extraordinary elements. And I think the first of those

is that I'm not sure there has ever been a criminal defendant who has had the power of the state

arrayed against him in the way that Derek Chauvin does. He has already been tried and convicted,

not only in the press, but by senior government officials in the city and the state.
