Hello and welcome to today's independent travel podcast. It's Wednesday the 15th of March,

which means that we're about to embark on the next round of rail strikes. Don't forget that

staff belonging to the RMT union working for 14 train operators, including those which

handle the vast majority of passengers within

England at least. We'll be going on strike tomorrow. That's Thursday. Also on Saturday,

the 18th, then on Thursday the 30th of March and also at the 1st of April. So do check if your train is still going to be running.

Okay. So let's just have a look at the strikes. If you've got a ticket on a day when there

is a strike and your train is still running, is there any compensation or anything due to you

if you decide that actually you don't want to take that train because you're

still because of strike day and you're actually unsure about whether it actually is going to go ahead or not.

Yeah, generally they're being very flexible. The train companies, if you've got an advanced booking

for a strike day, then you can use it. Some of them are saying right up until next Tuesday,

you know, travel at a time that suits you.

But generally, it's worth saying that once the strike timetables are published and they're all available now,

those trains, at least for this coming Thursday and Saturday, there's a very good chance that they will be.
