Hi friends, I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. So here is how it works. I'll read three chapters to you. You can listen or read along in your own Bible or online, and then I'll pray, and that's it. So today is day 13, and I'll be reading

Mark chapters 8 through 10. And this month, I'm reading from the CSB version. Mark 8. In those days,

three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way,

and some of them have come a long distance. His disciples answered him, where can anyone get

enough bread here in this desolate

place to feed these people? How many loaves do you have? he asked them. Seven, they said.

1:01.9

He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. Taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks,

1:06.6

broke them, and gave them to his disciples to set before the people. So they served them to the

1:10.9

crowd. They also had a few small fish, and after he had blessed them, he said these were to be served

1:16.1

as well. They ate and were satisfied. Then they collected seven large baskets of leftover pieces.

1:22.4

About 4,000 were there. He dismissed them, and he immediately got into the boat with his disciples and went to

1:28.3

the district of Dalmanutha. The Pharisees came and began to argue with them, demanding of him a sign from

1:34.0

heaven to test him. Sying deeply in his spirit, he said, why does this generation demand a sign?

1:40.6

Truly, I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation then he left them got back into the boat

1:45.9

and went to the other side the disciples had forgotten to take bread and had only one loaf with them in the

1:51.3

boat then he gave them strict orders watch out beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of

1:57.5

Herod they were discussing among themselves that they did not have any bread.

2:02.1

Aware of this, he said to them, why are you discussing the fact you have no bread? Don't you

2:07.0

understand or comprehend? Do you have hardened hearts? Do you have eyes and not see? Do you have

2:12.3

ears and not hear? And do you not remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand how many baskets full of
