Summary
It's the eve of the centennial anniversary of the birth of literary legend, Jack Kerouac. The 'On The Road' author, who pioneered the radical beat generation of the 1950's, holds a special place in my heart. To commemorate his life, work and too-early death, I go out on the road and down memory lane to discuss the magic and mishaps of hitchhiking.

| 1:13.6 | Indeed, my friend Chris and I decided that we would hitchhike across America simply to follow in his |

| 1:32.9 | He'd hit upon one long red line called Route 6 |
| 1:36.7 | that led from the tip of Cape Cod, |
| 1:38.7 | clear to Ili, Ely Nevada, and then dip down to Los Angeles. |
| 1:43.5 | And he wanted to go to the promised land of California. |

| 1:53.0 | In fact, on day one, he gave up about 40 miles from Manhattan and hitchback. |
| 2:00.0 | And then he got a bus as far as Chicago. |
| 2:05.1 | Now, when Chris and I hitched across America, |
| 2:10.1 | and by the way, two guys pitching across America, |
