from Memphis where he had been for over a decade with Mike Connolly, Tony Allen, the grit

and grind, and a feeble World Cup championship with the Spanish national team,

one of the great international runs of this past generation,

the Gassal brothers.

And we talk about his brother,

Pau, team basketball in the NBA,

being a part of something,

how difficult it was for him to leave Mike Connolly in Memphis,

leave that fan base where he literally grew up from a high school player to a pro.

And now his time in Toronto post-Kawai Leonard, always a fascinating conversation with one of the most thoughtful players in all

of basketball.

You had been traded to Toronto, maybe a few weeks earlier.

The bucks were in town.

I think they had stayed an extra day or two in New York.

The Raptors were coming into town to play.

I was in the lobby.
