Summary

We’ve heard a lot of stories from this group about when they were young and back in high school. Now we hear about adult life. What is it like to date a survivor of gun violence? We hear a bit of their dark humor and feel the bond that has lasted through relationships, marriages, heartbreaks and life changes. Amy reflects on how this podcast has helped to heal her. Even while it was being produced, a community close to home, Boulder, Colorado, experienced a mass shooting. It's yet another sad but clear confirmation; the non-profit that Amy fundraises for, The Rebels Project, will need to continue to support survivors of mass trauma with no respite to mass shootings in sight.

0:28.1	Because I've had people come in and tell me like, well, why didn't you do this?

0:34.3	You should have jumped out the window or like, of course I should have.

0:40.8	I would like to tell you about how it sounds to a survivor when they're like, well, I
0:46.2	would have done this and I would have tackled the guy and I would have the whole thing.
0:49.8	Exactly.
0:50.8	And it's like, so first of all, I'm super happy that you would have saved the day and saved
0:54.6	all of your friends and all these people.
0:56.2	But I didn't.
0:58.2	I hid and I'm super sorry that I wasn't all gung ho about like whatever it is.
1:03.4	Some people even mean well like they're like, well, I would have done this.
1:07.2	Trying to engage in the conversation like maybe their hearts are, I don't want to say
1:10.6	in the right place, but they're trying to engage with this story that they have no way
1:14.4	of really engaging with.
